Every woman's experience of cancer is different, but talking to another woman who has had cancer can help. Our highly trained and professional Peer Support Volunteers give you emotional support, understanding, hope and comfort.

Counterpart's model is valued and trusted by the health professionals we work with. We never provide medical, legal or financial advice or counselling.

Our confidential services include:

  • Peer Support (in person or over the phone): Emotional and practical support from women who have experienced cancer and have been trained in providing this support.
  • Information resources: Reliable, evidenced-based information tailored to individual needs to assist women adjusting to life following a cancer diagnosis.
  • Events and workshops: Creative and informative sessions with qualified health professionals.
  • Making Connections: Tailored support for women with advanced or metastatic cancer.

Visit Us at the Counterpart Resource Centre (closed during COVID-19 lockdown): Fifth Floor, Queen Victoria Women's Centre at the address below. The Centre is open 10am-5pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (not including public holidays). Peer support is available 10am-2pm on these days.

Counterpart is a service of Women's Health Victoria and is supported by the Victorian Government.
