Neurology is a branch of internal medicine.
Australian neurologists are Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and use the post nominals FRACP. The college has prime responsibility for the accreditation of basic and advanced training in neurology.
The Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN) is the national professional association of neurologists. ANZAN has an important role in professional development, the development of practice guidelines, and in partnership with the RACP, oversees the training in neurology.
In 2017 there were 604 registered neurologists in Australia (Medical Board of Australia, Registrant data, 23 January 2018).
