The Centre for Emotion Focused Practice (CEFP) has emerged out of a need and desire to create a community for both clients and practitioners where emotion focused practice is combined with the Rogerian principles of integrity, respect, authenticity and genuineness. The Centre is based in Melbourne, South Yarra where a team of psychologists, counsellors, social workers, and psychotherapists are available to support you through face-to-face appointments, workshops, and group meetings.

Emotion Focused Therapy

Emotions influence psychological, cognitive, behavioural, biological and neurochemical system functioning. Emotions interface between body and mind, are a primary signalling system, and often arise outside of our awareness. Process-Experiential Emotion Focused Therapy (PEEFT), commonly referred to as Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), helps to identify, explore, regulate, process, transform and integrate our experiences from an emotional perspective alongside reflective processing in order to elicit deep, effective, long lasting change.

PEEFT practitioners work within a person-centred approach, attuning with their clients whilst being directive of process. PEEFT is suitable for children, adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, families, schools and organisations.

We are committed to helping you develop effective coping mechanisms and explore deep underlying issues through therapy. We help you cope with conditions including anxiety, depression, stress, confusion, self esteem issues, panic, relationship/marital issues, childhood physical/emotional/sexual abuse/trauma and neglect, family violence, grief and loss, anger management, chronic illness (including Parkinsons), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder, borderline processes, drug and alcohol issues, compulsive behaviours, addiction, body image issues, parenting difficulties, life transitions, school or work difficulties, shyness and social anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, phobias, and HIV related issues.

Multilingual support is available with therapists offering guidance in several languages, including Spanish, Greek, German, and Auslan (for the hearing impaired).
